Dear Sake friends,
The 1st Sake Open House Tasting was a success.
Lets look at some numbers from the tasting:
2
The sake Breweries from Japan that took part at the event, Shushinkan and
Kozaemon
18
The numbers of Hotel and properties that attended the tasting
54
The line-up of New products
72
The number of guests that attended the 4 hours tasting
118
The total number of products showcased at the tasting
It was motivating to see a lot of interest around the
category and positive feedback on the initiative. Also interesting to see many
accounts that are not strictly focused around the Japanese cuisine but Bars and
Lounges that find opportunities around the ‘mixability’ of certain styles of
Sake and Shochu.
Such trade tasting can only be done once a year – and this has
given me some inspiration around possible themed tasting/challenges that could
help feeding the community and maintain high level of interest. Any idea? Maybe
a blind tasting? Sake dinner? Let see…..
Last time I also forgot to mention that this won’t be a
strictly sake related blog, but time to time I will look at other topics linked
to the Drink and Hospitality business in the Region – just to ensure we don’t
get bored and too skewed to one topic.
Speak soon.
Giorgio
